ELEMENTS III BLUE

Elements Blue an invitation to experience Anne Katrine Senstad's spatial light, color and sound environment installation entitled ELEMENTS III BLUE as a sensorial journey through the art works ephemeral yet gravitational elements, and the cellular particles of light, sound and space. The ocular impact of the of blue and its ethereal qualities on our cognitive system is narrated by the presence and intimacy of a singular audience within the installation. The neon sculpture and immersive installation is accompanied by polymath Catherine Christer Hennix's composition The Well Tuned Marimba and recreates the mesmerizing and hypnotic experience of the art work in the video. Hennix's composition was originally recorded at the Museum of Modern Art Stockholm in 1976 as en eternally looping sound work with no beginning nor an end, re-enforcing the sensation of infinity inherent in the color blue and the enveloping horizon.

Anne Katrine Senstad | LIGHT COLOR SPACE ARTIST

The practice of Norwegian artist Anne Katrine Senstad lies at the intersections of light sculpture, installation art, photography, video art, and site-specificity within the language of chromatic minimalism, the experiential condition and perceptual environments. With training in color theory, optics, and the psychology of space, for over several decades Senstad’s practice has focused on the phenomenology of perception of space, light, sound, and color.  In her text works Senstad addresses human nature, ethics, social criticism and philosophy through intervention and installation art with the staple of word play, employing commercial and utilitarian materials. Senstad’s practice in socially engaged field projects and land art works includes agricultural, cultural and social-political interactions and collaborations, performative interventions that seek to create wider educational and cultural platforms among diverse ideologies. Senstad ‘s work and vision engages a development for what she sees as a new folklore and amalgamation between postmodern individualism and a new internationalism through creative authenticity, and the human and cultural enterprise.
